Energy Smoothies provide a boost to the metabolism and often an additional boost to the immune system. From a healthy diet point of view these types of smoothies have maximum value all round.
We have just three great recipes for you here but you will get the idea and perhaps build your own personal drinks based on what we have suggested.
Here are just a few, selected from our own recipes list.
1/4 cup fresh mashed avocado
1/2 cup low fat milk
1 teaspoon honey
1 banana, frozen, then broken
into 3 pieces
1/2 cup frozen mango pieces
1/3 cup peach nectar
1 cup frozen banana, cut into pieces
1/2 cup of chilled silken tofu
1/2 cup milk of choice
3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon flax seed powder
1/2 cup banana, cut into pieces
1/2 cup papaya, cut into pieces
1/2 cup pineapple juice (juiced separately)
1 teaspoon brewer’s yeast
1 teaspoon flax seed oil
Adding such ingredients as flax seed powder or flax seed oil, brewers yeast and/or honey, provides that extra “boost” to the stem that we are all looking for.
The nutritional benefits of brewer’s yeast, for example, are significant. It is a great source of protein and B-complex vitamins, which are sometimes lacking in normal diets, especially vegetarian and vegan.
It is also high in chromium, a mineral helpful in maintaining proper blood sugar levels and selenium.
All B-complex vitamins provide energy and help break down protein, carbohydrates and fat as well as aid in digestion and maintaining a healthy liver, skin, eyes, mouth and hair. It should be noted that brewer’s yeast does not contain B12.
