Cranberry Smoothies

Cranberry Smoothies are a little unusual although cranberry juice has been a recognized addition to anyone’s health regime for some time now. Cranberries possess almost ‘magical’ powers and cranberry juice has found it’s way into many health fruit drinks.

It is a little acidic and not every digestive tract welcomes it, so these Smoothie recipes may make a welcome change. Here in the Pacific Northwest, where Cranberries are grown, we have access to the freshest of juices but I am sure it is available (or some cranberry/other berry variation) in most places.

Cranberry Smoothies

One cup of Cranberries contains about .40 grams of protein, about 4 and a half grams of dietary fiber and represents about 45 calories. Cranberries are high in Vitamin A and C as well as Potassium and Phosphorus, They also contain a large variety of other minerals and vitamins.


1 1/2 cups Cran-Raspberry Juice
2 cups frozen mixed berries
1 1/2 cups nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt

Put all ingredients into blender and blend until smooth.
Serves 2.


1 cup cranberry juice.
1/2 cup sorbet, raspberry-flavored.
1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate.
1 1/2 cup orange sections.

1 cup cranberry juice.
1 large banana.
1 medium orange, peeled and segmented.
1/2 cup strawberries,hulled.
1/4 cup raspberry sherbert.
1 cup ice cubes.
1/4 cup whey protein powder.

Place cranberry juice, banana, strawberries, sherbert, ice and protein powder into the blender.
Blend on high speed until smooth (about 1 minute).
Adjust the consistency by adding more sherbert if it is thin and cranberry juice if the mixture is thick.
Pour into two glasses and use a straw.
